A few moments before eight o’clock on the morning of 4th April, 1862, Richard Rowlands, or Dic Rolant as he was called, husband, father, itinerant farm worker, bare fist fighter, seducer of women, and lately convicted murderer, stood on the hangman’s drop at Beaumaris gaol. His was the last public hanging in Wales.

Ychydig funudau cyn wyth o’r gloch y bore ar fore’r 4ydd o Ebrill, 1862, roedd Richard Rowlands, neu Dic Rolant, ar fin cael ei grogi y tu allan i garchar Biwmares am lofruddio ei dad yng nghyfraith.
