Yn ystod y Dirwasgiad, bu ymdrech arwrol i geisio lliniaru peth ar y diweithdra enbyd oedd yn ardaloedd diwydiannol Cymru. Bryn-mawr yng Ngwent oedd y dref yr effeithiwyd arni waethaf, ac yma yn 1928 daeth grŵp o Grynwyr ifainc at ei gilydd i geisio gwella’r sefyllfa. Yr oedd Arbrawf Bryn-mawr yn ymgais orchestol a chwyldroadol i newid natur cymdeithas.
During the Depression, heroic efforts were made to alleviate the terrible unemployment rates in industrial Wales. The town of Bryn-mawr in south Wales was the worst affected, and in 1928 a group of Quakers got together to try and improve the situation. The Bryn-mawr Experiment was an outstanding and revolutionary attempt to change the nature of society.
