This fast-moving novel traces the return of Fleet Street reporter Steve to the seaside town of Glanaber – a fictionalised Aberystwyth – to cover a sex scandal involving the college principal. He makes a splash and is relocated there to start up a new magazine. He meets up with his old girlfriend Annette, who had a baby by him – the ‘love child’ of the title.
